Delicious Bavarian wheat beer

Description

Maisel’s Weisse Original is a superb and highly drinkable German wheat beer crafted by the esteemed Maisel’s Brewery. Situated in the Upper Franconian city of Bayreuth, Maisel’s is a true family-run brewery. Founded in 1887 by brothers Hans and Eberhardt Maisel, it's now managed by their fourth-generation descendant, Jeff Maisel.

Maisel’s Weisse Original is made with meticulously chosen wheat and barley malts, resulting in a strikingly bright reddish-amber pour crowned with a generous, inviting foam head. What sets this German wheat beer apart is its secondary maturation process known as 'Bayerische Edelreifung' (Bavarian Noble Maturation). After the primary fermentation and maturation, fresh yeast and brewer’s wort are added before bottling, avoiding pasteurisation altogether.

This blend of traditional and modern brewing techniques, combined with the dedication of Maisel’s master brewers, yields a delicious, multi-award-winning German wheat beer that stands the test of time.

It’s a wheat beer to be savoured time and again.

*Blue plastic Maisel’s Weiss crate not included. Bottles shipped in protective and recyclable cardboard packaging.

Did You Know?

In Germany, pubs and inns serving Maisel’s Weisse Original display the ‘Brewer’s Star’ in their signage, letting thirsty guests know that they’ll find wholesome beer at their establishment.

Maisel’s Weisse Original secured the title of World Champion at the 2018 World Beer Awards and was named ‘World’s Best Wheat Beer, Bavarian Hefeweiss’. In 2022, the wheat beer was awarded bronze in the same competition. It also won bronze at the Brussels Beer Challenge in 2019.

In the 1980s, more and more people began to enjoy wheat beers in Germany, which ultimately led to a new, unfiltered hefeweizen being offered alongside the crystal clear, Kristall yeast-free version. This not only fuelled the nationwide weissbier trend, but it would also become Maisel’s best-selling beer. However, it went through a few name changes, and ‘Maisel’s Hefe-Weissbier’ became ‘Maisel’s Weisse’ and is now known as ‘Maisel’s Weisse Original’.
