Tasting Notes

“Like a fresh meadow of alpine herbs, underscored by light notes of grain and yeast and just a hint of lemon. Very fresh and invigorating. The beer finishes with a lovely interplay of honey and lemon” - Oliver Wesseloh (World champion beer sommelier)

Appearance: A pale golden colour with a slight cloudiness and a pure-white fine-pored and long-lasting head.

Aroma: The typical Rothaus signature is immediately recognisable: the fresh Alpine meadow, accentuated by light grain and yeast notes as well as a touch of lemon. Very fresh and invigorating.

Flavour: In the first sip, you immediately notice a very fine carbonation that is extremely well incorporated - almost like bottle-fermented beers. Accompanied by a perfect body, the beer fizzes as it settles into the mouth. Immediately thereafter, the hoppy aromas appear on the scene. The Tettnang aromatic hop variety in particular can display its strengths with its refreshing citrus notes. It finishes with the introduction of another light honey note that goes very nicely with the modest body. There is also a quick flash of bitterness here that, like the body, is recognisable but not too overpowering.

Special aspect: The Maidle is a naturally cloudy beer and is brewed according to traditional standards. As with all of the Rothaus beers, this means using their soft brewing water, high-quality regional malt and aromatic hops from the Tettnang and Hallertau regions. The beer draws on historical recipes and can’t be catergorised as any traditional type of beer.
