Märzen or Märzenbier was traditionally brewed in the depths of winter in order to harness the naturally forming ice used to cool the beer.

The latest month brewers could produce a Märzen beer would be in March (hence, März).

If you're a fan of the Pils, it's likely you'll be a fan of the Märzen. This has a softer mouthfeel, with a maltier profile.
